Eddie inherits a house that people believe stole the life of his cousin many years ago. Some say the house is haunted. Eddie is about to discover something much better...

There's a door in his basement that leads directly to a local amusement park, but this particular park was razed some time in the 50's.

Now the year is 1928 and Patience Webb is at the top of her Hollywood game.
Unfortunately, at the age of 25, her successful movie career comes to a sudden and mysterious end… Patience Webb is gone!

That same year, nearly 2400 miles away in Silver Falls, Nena Brooks – also known as Brooksie appears out of nowhere and she wants nothing to do with anyone and she seems to be hiding something.

Eddie tries to remain just a sightseer in the 1920's because he knows that getting attached to the past can cause problems.
But what happens when he stumbles upon an intriguing woman named Brooksie?
And what if history still demands a tragic ending?

"McElhaney's story telling is deft, well-paced, and with an ear for conversation" ~ Beacon Journal Book Review

"[McElhaney] slipped in under the radar and firmly established himself as a fresh new voice in science fiction before anyone had a chance to react. By then it was too late and nearly every sci-fi fan who owned a had already discovered this unknown and was actively searching him out." ~Associated Content

Saving Brooksie A time travel thriller edition by Scott McElhaney Romance eBooks

This book was very different from anything I have ever read before. The first few chapters confused me exceedingly, but I stuck with it until I understood what the author was doing and how this was the only way the book could have been written to tell the story. I was also confused by the number of characters and almost needed a list of characters and what decade they lived in, to read each page. With all that said, I LIKED IT for it's storyline. It is a fantasy. It would make a good movie like "Somewhere in Time". The characters were well described, well written for how the story needed to be told. The author has a vivid imagination. My main dislike in the book was the "book within the book". It really threw me and was too preachy. I am sure the author had a reason for including this, but other than "filler", I never figured out what its purpose was. It was too similar to the story he was actually telling. A good quick read that takes some time getting thru and some persistence.

Saving Brooksie A time travel thriller edition by Scott McElhaney Romance eBooks Reviews

This book was NOTHING like I expected. IT WAS so good. I honestly liked it sooo much that I friended the author on Facebook. I really enjoy Scott McElhaney's work. I don't always give FIVE stars but, on some rare occasions I do. I try to be honest in my reviews and this is a very good book.
This book was everything all the other reviewers said it was. It was pleasant, a bit of romance, (which I usually do not read), some suspense, and some time travel that I think I would love to try! It kept me guessing, and I could not wait to see what happened, hoping there are more books by this interesting author. Good going, nothing like a fun, free book to entertain me! Thank you.
I fully enjoyed this book. The story was very well written and I got hooked immediately. It is a sweet, romantic story and while certainly not the "great American novel" it was worth reading. And, while I knew almost from the beginning how it would end, I was never tempted to not finish the book. The story-within-a-story was quite cleverly done and certainly unexpected.
This was a great shorter time traveling romance. No swearing and no sexual content. Christian viewpoint. A secret door that leads to the 1920's. I can recommend for ages 16 and up due to some adult content. I give it four stars. I really liked it.
I was completely surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I got this book free which can be "hit and miss". This book was definitely a "hit".
I had just given up on a different free book after a few pages. Looked through my library and saw this one. I'm so glad I did!
"Saving Brooksie" held my interest from beginning to end. I thoroughly enjoyed the time travel aspect. It was done in a way that was believable. (no, I don't believe in time travel)

Romance, suspense and a little time travel. What's not to love!
I adore the Mystic Saga series that Scott wrote and have been exploring his other works like Mommy's Choice and Erinyes. I believe that Saving Brooksie is his best work thusfar. The characters were well fleshed out and the plot had a quick pace and lovely ending. I enjoyed the simple way in which he titled his chapters which kept the reader apprised of the changing decades. And I thought the "7 Seconds" story as read by the main character was a clever way to introduce the possibility of a sad ending and additional mystery. I particularly enjoyed the authentic portayal of Jesus within that substory.

The theme of respecting women as human beings rather than as objects is very strong in this story as well as in Erinyes and adds a deeper more intense feel to the romantic qualities of both stories.
This story intrigued me when it began as a time traveling, sci-fi tale, but it quickly became more of a romance with strong Christian backbone. Neither of these latter particularly interest me, but I had to finish it, anyway. There are really two, distinct stories, here, but one should be able to connect them without difficulty.

The action keeps the stories moving. While the end is a bit predictable, it simply shouldn't have ended any other way. Mr. McElhaney has some great story concepts, and they are filled with surprises. Easy to follow, fun, light read. If you begin this story, you will want to see what happens next!
